Wenger reveals why he doesn't splash the cash

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed just why he doesn't splash the clash.

The Frenchman holds youngsters in high regard and feels that buying someone and putting them in ahead of them would be like killing them off. Wenger has always shown a lot of faith in his youngsters but many fans have just wanted him to splash the cash if they are expected to complete with the likes of Chelsea.

However, Wenger is to stick to his 'youth development' but insists if he wanted to spend money then he could.
"I have showed faith in our youngsters, who showed a lot of talent last season" said Wenger.

"Now if I put someone in ahead of them, it would be like killing them off. Naturally, they will have to fight for their place in the team, but if we took away their chance of playing it would kill all the work we have put in over the past three years. It is a sign of confidence because if I wanted to spend some money - a bit, anyway! - I could."
