Jol concedes Gerrard probably the best

Tottenham boss Martin Jol feels that Aaron Lennon still has a way to go before he can claim a regular England place.

Lennon has shown what he can do on the big stage but he's not quite the standard of Steven Gerrard who has played in that wide right role for England under Steve McClaren.

Lennon is sure pushing on that spot and Jol feels his man is getting closer and closer.

"Aaron is a winger but Gerrard is an all-round midfielder who does more than any
other wing player could do," said Jol to the Sun.

"Gerrard is probably the best player whether he's on the right, the left or as an attacking midfield player.

"I'm just happy when Lennon comes on and shows what he can do for England. And if he plays well against Everton, I suppose he'll be closer to the England team than ever."
