Kuyt to join Newcastle or Liverpool?

Speculation has been surrounding Holland striker Dirk Kuyt for months, who will he join and why will he join them?

There's no secret that Newcastle and Liverpool are the two clubs with the close eye on the guy, but I'm afraid to say that only one club can have him.

Newcastle are desperate to add to their attack ahead of the new season. With Shearer now retired and Owen injured for 5/6 months, they are looking to add a couple of strikers to the squad.

Liverpool have just recently signed Craig Bellamy from Blackburn Rovers, whether they are on the look-out for another striker is unknown, but with the quality of Kuyt available, they'd be silly to over-look him.

Kuyt has made it clear that he wants to be playing Premiership football next season after a number of quotes have appeared in newspapers and online.

Shearer approached for managerial job

Alan Shearer could be set to become the England assistant manager after it was reported that future boss Steve McClaren had asked him.

It seems like the perfect move for Shearer who is looking to eventually go into coaching. There's no doubt that Shearer will one day manage Newcastle United, but he simply isn't quite ready for that big step yet.

However, this proposition from McClaren looks like a great stone for Shearer to step before taking a bigger job on the other side.

Wenger telling porkies?

It appears that someone is telling some porkies because we are all hearing two different stories over the future of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

From Madrid we are hearing that Wenger has already struck a deal with one of the presidents. From England we are hearing from Wenger that there is no deal done, no truth in these stories.

However, the rumour is strong in Madrid and we just don't know what is going on behind the scenes. You'd think that Wenger would stay at Arsenal because he has unfinished business, but on the other hand, has he had enough? does he want a fresh start? a new challenge? We just don't know.

The next few weeks will be a telling time for Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Reports suggest Nistelrooy switch

Reports came out today suggesting that Ruud van Nistelrooy will depart Man Utd in aid of a move to Bayern Munich.

A number of sites took the speculation a bit to far as it was only a 'player' of Bayern Munich that was suggesting the move.

Lukas Podolski has emerged as the latest fan of Nistelrooy as he is very keen to play with the player that he states is 'world-class'.

Will Nistelrooy be interested in the move? Has he ever mentioned anything about Munich? If you know something we don't, drop it in the comments and we'll take a look.

Tottenham - Was Jenas worth it?

Rumours have been cast over the future of Jermaine Jenas at Tottenham.

The main question to Tottenham fans is 'was he worth the money?', it was a surprise signing at the time, especially for a Newcastle fan. Jenas is considered to be one of the great upcoming talents in England, but has he shown it throughout the season at Tottenham?

Premiership odds - Get your bets on for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd

Next season is going to be a good one indeed, something I might actually put a bet on myself.

Bet365 currently hold Chelsea at 8/15, Man Utd 9/2, Arsenal at 6 and Liverpool also at 6.

I wouldn't mind taking that Arsenal one considering they could find Vieira back in their hands, the man that led them to go unbeaten throughout a season to win the league? Doesn't sound so unrealistic now does it?

Man Utd have as good a chance as anyone and that's why they are held up their in high regard, however, it's going to be tough to take anything away from Chelsea.

A good bet? Peter Crouch to be top scorer

Well, looks like many bookies are holding their stance that Peter Crouch could well be England's top goalscorer in the World Cup.

Odd's currently stand at 5/2 on BetFred.com and the same on SkyBet.

Crouch scored a hat-trick in England's friendly before the tournament against Jamaica and has just recently scored against Trinidad and Tobago to mark his first goal of the tournament.

However, would it be a good bet or would it be a bad bet as Crouch could be set to be axed for Wayne Rooney as he has just come to full fitness?

Tottenham may keep their star middle man

Tottenham fans will feel a sense of relief after it was revealed Ajax have ended their interest in Davids.

Speculation linking Edgar Davids with a move away from Tottenham has been happening since the transfer window opened.

It's unknown whether he wanted to spend more than one season in the Premiership, the Tottenham fans will sure be hoping he does, but he has his personal life to think about and also his future which is the most important thing in his future right now.

Ajax were thought to be the team to take Davids but reports have revealed they are no longer interested after Davids failed to come to a decision.

Marseille to buy 'faulty goods' from Liverpool?

Reading a number of posts this afternoon brings my attention to the way Liverpool are looking in the transfer market. If they can't sell Cisse, Benitez isn't going to be a happy chappy at all. It's like he's already conceded that nobody wants faulty goods, but, Marseille are still interested.

If Cisse is shipped off then that will allow Benitez to launch an offer for some of the talent he'll by no doubt be watching in the World Cup.

There's been plenty of links with Liverpool and there's no point in speculating further in this post, but, until Cisse is out that door, not much is going to be happening.

Member of FIFA caught ticket touting!

Just when you think you can trust officials from any dodgy business, the World Cup begins.

Yes that’s right, an official for the World Cup 2006 has been told off by big FIFA daddy Sepp Blatter. Selling tickets for 3x their price was the crime, a serious one indeed after they have been working so hard to stop ticket touts, then one of their own pulls off this little trick, bad move.

The person in question has admitted to carrying out the activity and has packed his bags and headed home with a first class ticket, and yes, I mean the plane ticket, not a World Cup one!
"I am very disappointed about the conduct of a member of the FIFA Executive Committee," said Sepp Blatter.

"In such a situation, FIFA acts immediately and firmly."
