Wenger telling porkies?

It appears that someone is telling some porkies because we are all hearing two different stories over the future of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.

From Madrid we are hearing that Wenger has already struck a deal with one of the presidents. From England we are hearing from Wenger that there is no deal done, no truth in these stories.

However, the rumour is strong in Madrid and we just don't know what is going on behind the scenes. You'd think that Wenger would stay at Arsenal because he has unfinished business, but on the other hand, has he had enough? does he want a fresh start? a new challenge? We just don't know.

The next few weeks will be a telling time for Real Madrid and Arsenal.

Madrid is a long way from Beveren. The Spanish FA are not conducting an enquiry into Wenger's dealings with Beveren. FIFA have, however, asked the English FA to conduct just such an enquiry.

Real Madrid/Barcelona presidential candidates have a history of deceit. Arsene Wenger does not....

You will note that the rumours coming from madrid are all from supposed associates of one of the presidential candidates. This way they can legally tap people up & if things dont work out deny everything. Why would wenger leave arsenal for madrid?? Arsenal have a lot more going for them at this moment in time than madrid do, also he would never ask a player like henry to stay or another like rosicky to join if he had intentions of leaving. In Italy the rumours are that capello will be getting the job & Juventus have even lined up his replacement so thats a much more likely outcome. Wenger could have left to join real madrid many times over but if anyone thinks he wants to start a whole new project before he has finished his current one they are in dreamland. The young players he has got to join arsenal are some of the best in the world & he wants to see that through, it was only a few months ago he was talking about signing a new contract beyond his current deal.

Like all presdential candaties in and out of football - The key is to make promisies you can't keep.

This is typical of the garbage that is touted around during the close season.Wenger has never broken a contract in his life and has just persuaded Henry to stay and Rosicky to join Arsenal. He has personally planned almost every detail of the playing facilities at the Emirates Stadium-and you dare to peddle the rubbish that a Real Madrid presidential candidate is using to desperately try to acquire office. It is about time the grubby tactics of Real Masdrid,Barcelona and their ilk were exposed rather than attempting to impugn the reputation of one of the most honourable men in football.Look elsewhere for a story-this is garbage so don't dignify it with any sort of speculation.

spot on to the comment above. when wenger first came to us we had to wait until the season had started before getting him so he could finish his contract with the japanese club he used to play for. If he says he'll stay he'll stay he's a man of his word.

thing is, the managerial turnover at real madrid is that great that when wenger leaves in 2 years (when he's contract expires) the madrid job will probably be vacant again

There is absolutely no way on earth Wenger will leave Arsenal this summer. He has never broken a contract in his life, even joining Arsenal two months into the 1996-1997 season so that he could honour the full extent of his contract with Grampus 8. Would Henry really have committed himself to stay at the club if there was a chance his mentor would not be there? Wenger has even previously described the Madrid job as the worst in football as you have no control over the squad and are expected to deliver the league and ECL double every year. If he goes to Madrid this summer, I’ll be appointed King of Spain by the new year.

The current rumour mongering regards to Wenger is just typical Spainish football Presidential touting, same as Beckham, Vieira and Henry were pre-signed sure fire deals - no need to waste anymore breath.
