Tottenham - Was Jenas worth it?

Rumours have been cast over the future of Jermaine Jenas at Tottenham.

The main question to Tottenham fans is 'was he worth the money?', it was a surprise signing at the time, especially for a Newcastle fan. Jenas is considered to be one of the great upcoming talents in England, but has he shown it throughout the season at Tottenham?

When he came he lacked confidence but as the season went on he improved and shows he is a very good player.

Jenas has been great. He works harder than most in the team and did not stop running in games. We missed him at the end of the season. I think he has been another key figure in the success last season.

how can u ask was he worth the money? he scored almost as many goals from midfield last season as the rest of the midfield did altogether! great signing and he's still young, will only get better and better...and u have 2 remember he was played out of position in most games! his best position is in the centre but we played him wide for the sake of davids so with davids gettin old he's not gona b playin as much therefore we'll c jenas at his best in the centre next year!

Whilst we all thought Jenas was damaged goods he turned out to be an astute buy by big Mart. 7 goals, good passing, great freekicks and a real keeness to play for us! Nuff said!

Of course he was worth it, and another thing if you read his comments today on the Tottenham official site, he says he is happy at Tottenham which pours scorn on the tabloid crud which has been going around that he is "demanding showdown talks" with Spurs because he is unhappy.
Gutter press drivel, don't believe it!!!

Well being a season ticket holder and watching Spurs last season develop, Jenas has been vital, his bursts from midfield, his thru ball passes and great free-kicks, and scoring 7 goals in the process from midfield, yet most of the time he was played out of position. He can run, tackle, create space, but sometimes tends to misplace the easy ball. I think there is more to come from him next season.

who say davids played in the middle? nonsense!!! Davids played on the left most of the time when he was fit to play. When lennon start to play regularly, Jenas played in the middle.

Spurs are shit one season wonders and I'm a spurs season ticket holder, we can't even hold on to one of our most consistent players through the season, Mido and our full backs at times leave a lot to be desired. We'll do nothing in Europe mark my words because we're shit. We,ve bought in quality players like Murphy and not used them and instead stuck Davids on the left, we need more players from the Premiership or England in general, not just players who have played in foreign leagues i.e. Berbatov, why not sign Mido instead or Bellamy for no where near as much, watch Everton there buys have been good and they'll do well next season as well as Newcastle. In the end WE'RE JUST SHIT.

I would be very sorry to see jenas go, i think he was instrumental last seeason when playing and sorely missed when he wasnt,Get rid of that past it old man davids, who is useless by the way and stick jenas there and we will all shine.

Our only midfielder who gets beyond the front two and into the box, scored vital goals for us and puts himself about.Don't believe the barcode drivvel, he's a very good player and will get even better.
We havent seen the best of him, maybe due to Davids playing, as he occupied a lot of the space that Jenas usually likes to operate in, that said I still think Davids contribution was great, but Jenas needs the central role to really shine.

8.25 pm do yourself a favour go and support Newcastle or someone, they love to slate their own team. You aint no spur

I saw every home game this season at WHL and almost every away game either on Sky or dodgy Arabic feeds in equally dodgy bars.

My father and I disagree about Jenas all the time. Personally I tend to agree with a lot of the other posters here that Jenas was actually an instrumental part of our team.

Quite often you don't notice the work he puts in. He's always making space just in front of our back four, did you notice that we probably halved the number of long hoofs up the field from tight situations where we had the ball near our own 18 yard box. This is because of Jenas.

Secondly, up front he also tends to hang a little back and pick up scraps. He makes telling tackles, especially his trademark sliding tackles where he often comes away with possession - in fact I think we scored at least one in this fashion.

Thirdly, goals. He scored as many goals last season as Lennon, Carrick, Davids & Tainio put together.

Finally, the real evidence was in our last few games where he didn't play. You could just tell that something was missing...

I know sometimes he looks lethargic and disinterested - I think that's just his normal face! Looking forward to watching him next season.

You're a Spurs season ticket holder, yet you think we're shit and that Everton have made some great signings?! Yeah! Right! I don't rate Jenas - I think he is all hype and only stays in the team because he pops up with a few goals. His overall game is poor - particularly his reading of the game and passing. How often can he ruin a quick break with a backward pass?! Lennon needs it quickly to feet while the defenders are still trying to backpedal! Carrick has been found out(Bolton, Blackburn and others have shown that if you press and deny him time that him his game goes to pot) and should be sold if United offer £15m. We have a few average players in the squad that need to be replaced and some areas we need to improve (MJ is working on fullbacks) but we're not shit and Everton certainly don't have a better transfer policy than us! If you'd rather have Andy Johnson than Berbatov you've either not watched enough football or you're just blatantly racist. Either way, ignorance is best kept to yourself.

8.25pm Season ticket holder my arse. You are clearly some kind of retard or more likely a gooner. never heard so much rubbish in my life - except when wenger speaks of course.

Everton - doing well next season? By that you mean escaping relegation again I suppose. Or the bar codes.....there's a team that lurches from one crisis to the next.

As for us being one season wonders if you knew anything about spurs you'd notice that we are building a squad of the best british and foreign youngsters around. All very young with so much potential. Next year and in the future pal, we will be where we belong back in the top four again.

Thought Jenas was a bad signing at first but he proved how good he was as the season progressed, and I think we missed him towards the end.

8.25 PM, you are a jackass, you clearly know nothing about anything.
