Newcastle to make £5million Chelsea bid

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle are reporting that Glenn Roeder is set to make a bid for Chelsea player Robert Huth.

The defender has been under speculation throughout the summer and Newcastle have always been in the spotlight regarding the players future.

Time is now running out as the deadline is on Thursday and with the recent exit of Boumsong, Newcastle are almost desperate to find a replacement.

"I am living on the mobile phone at the moment, but one of the biggest problems we have is that the season has now started in the rest of Europe," said Roeder.

"Coaches have got their squads together and it is proving difficult to prise players away."
