Redknapp reveals Aston Villa transfer

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that Petrov is going to Aston Villa.

The Celtic midfielder had been a target for Portsmouth but they couldn't agree a price, however new Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is ready to splash the cash.

Petrov will be O'Neill's first signing for Villa and he is a player that he holds in very high regard.

"I think you will find Petrov has gone to Aston Villa," said Redknapp to BBC Sport.

"That is the plan and we wish him all the best."
