Arsenal - Fabregas comments on Real Madrid speculation

Arsenal were handed a boost by the news that Cesc Fabregas would be staying with the club.

Fabregas had been under speculation with a possible move to Real Madrid, just like Reyes is currently. However, Fabregas insists he is an Arsenal player and at a club which believed in him since he was the age of 16.

Now Fabregas has been handed the shirt of former Arsenal ace Patrick Vieira.

"It is a big honour wearing this shirt because it was Patrick's number. He was a great player for Arsenal and one day I'd like to be like him. I will keep working hard to achieve that" said Fabregas.

"There was speculation about Real Madrid and me in the summer. They are a big club with a big history.

"But I am an Arsenal player and they are also the club who believed in me since I was 16. I have to thank Arsene Wenger for all he has done for me."
