Arsenal and Chelsea hoping to get big deal done

Chelsea are still keen on signing Arsenal defender Ashley Cole.

At one point it was thought that Chelsea had given up their interest in the left-back but it vice-chairman Peter Kenyon is still hopeful of making the signing.

Kenyon revealed that negotiations have been on-going with Arsenal and they've been talking throughout the last three weeks.

"That would be nice," said Kenyon to Sky Sports News when asked about landing
Arsenal's Ashley Cole.

"We've got seven days to do it or not. We've been talking to Arsenal for the last three weeks, very frequently, that's where we are, there's no more to add.

"Arsenal know our position, we'd like to think we can get it done, but if not we've got a great team and are very confident they can get us through.

"There's a commitment on both sides to try and get a deal done."
