£5million Tottenham offer shrugged aside

Fulham boss Chris Coleman has sent a message to Tottenham or any other clubs interested in their captain that they'll have to make a serious offer.

Luis Boa Morte could be sold by Fulham but only for the right price. Coleman revealed that a serious offer is not £5 million.

Tottenham appear to be the most interest club and also the most likely to attract Boa Morte, however they shall have to up their bid just like Wigan told them over Chimbonda.

"The message to Spurs or anybody else interested in our captain is if they're seriously interested they have to make a serious offer," said Coleman.

"A serious offer for Luis Boa Morte isn't £5 million. We haven't had an offer that's anywhere near what his price is.

"If they are interested in him they'll have to pay. Bear in mind Gary McSheffrey went from Coventry to Birmingham for £4 million. He's a good player in The Championship, but has no Premiership experience.

"Compare him with Boa Morte - a lad who has played over 250 games in The Premiership over the last five years and a Portuguese international.

"The price would have to be big to lose a player of Boa's class.

"If someone offered a staggering amount of money for Boa, then I'd have to ask the chairman how much can I have back to invest in other players.

"From a football side I wouldn't want to sell him at any price, but I have to tell the chairman what has been offered.

"We could maybe invest in two or three new players with the money, but it would have to be a lot of money to sell Boa."

Smalltime club, smalltime manager, smalltime player who can not get up and show a bit of ambition.

Coleman is a very good example of chip on the shoulder case.

Boa Morte is a good player but paying £8 million for a 29 yeras old players services is just crazy.

Coleman should also give an example of Damien Duff for £5 million as well.

I just hope Fulham just go down and forgotten back in the history as once upon a time they used to be.

I'm trying to understand Coleman's maths. How can Boa Morte play over 250 Premiership games in 5 years when their is only 38 games a season. Perhaps he needs new batteries for his calculator and then he may work out a realistic price for his player.

The trouble is next season he will be 30 and will be worth £2 million.Spurs aint where they are because they have paid over the odds for a player, they are where they are because they invested in quality at a right price.£5 million is more than enough for Boa Morte and as it was said before he cant be an ambitious player if he is stuck in a team which aint more than a dodgy arabs toy.

Boa Morte is worth more to Fulham than Duff was to Chelsea. Get realistic Mr. Smalltime Mind. Not everyone can buy players for countless millions and then let them go for a fraction of their actual value. The fact that he's trying to hold onto Boa Morte demonstrates ambition, not the opposite...now why don't you go and get forgotten?

I wouldn't pay 1 million for him. I reckon he's useless and couldn't help laughing when i saw him totally fresh air a clearance on the weekend. How can this man be worth what coleman thinks he's worth? I'd be pissed off if we payed money for a player like that.

I agree with the last person - Coleman is ambitious - that's why he's desperate to keep his best player at Fulham and if he does go, the manager wants hefty compensation. Chelsea don't need money from player sales to reinvest, Fulham do. If Wigan want £6m for Chimbonda then Boa is worth more than £5m - even if he is the world's most inconsistent player. I don't want him at Spurs - I think the money could be better spent on other younger, better players.
