That Reo-Coker Tackle On Essien Again
45eachway wouldn't normally condone such behaviour but we're willing to make an exception in this case. It's fair to say Michael Essien had it coming (certainly Didi Hamman and Tal Ben Haim would agree) and we can't help feeling ever so slightly proud of Nigel Reo-Coker.

Whoa there Mr. Angry Anonymous Man! Let's deal with your comments one at a time (apart from the one's we've deleted which were basically just a lot of swearing)
1. We're "promoting tackles like this one and congratulating the culprit" and should "get our acts together and promote fair play". Essien was putting in some nasty tackles himself, so we were pointing out (not celebrating) the irony of this happening to him.
2)We are "racist for promoting this tackle because it involves one with a darker skin." First of all, that's the silliest thing we've ever heard. Second, (though we don't care either way) do you really think Essien has "darker skin" than Reo-Coker?
3) "I bet u would loose owen,lanpard and berkamp b4 the world cup,racist fools." We didn't know Denis Bergkamp was planning to play for England this summer.
4) "Ghana lost to Zimbabwe because Essien was injured" and "he ought to sue this site." Ghana beat Senegal without Essien, and I don't think Mr. Essien needs the pitiful amount of money he would(n't ever) get from sueing a blogger.com based website.
Look, it's fine for you to be angry about the Essien challenge, we understand it must be annoying to see it replayed endlessly on a loop and we welcome your comments (sort of). But if you post any more comments that are basically just a collection of swear words we'll delete them again.

No Anning we didn't praise Essien for his horror tackles on Hamman and Ben Haim. Our point was that Essien had it coming. He built up a reputation for these fouls and Reo-Coker went in hard to show him who was the boss in midfield.
We don't really condone what Reo-Coker did, but if Essien hadn't been making horror tackles then Reo-Coker wouldn't have gone in so hard.
We're guessing a lot of these comments are coming from Ghana, and we understand that you're protective of your star player with the World Cup coming, but you all need to relax and not take football so seriously. Essien is not dead, he's just injured, and he'll be back in time for the World Cup.
And we doubt Osama Bin Laden has an opinion on Michael Essien's injury. He's a busy man.

All the Ghana fans out there need to realise that 45eachway has nothing against Michael Essien. He's a fine player.
This website is dedicated to the English national team. The focus of the blog entry was Reo-Coker putting in a hard challenge on someone known for hard challenges (Essien).
We're glad Essien has recovered and we hope to see him in the World Cup.
At the time this blog entry was posted (which was quite a while ago) there was great interest in Essien because of the nasty tackles he'd been putting in and we felt a tackle on him was something readers would want to see.
Don't make a purely football issue into a racial issue, especially the insaniac who thought we were racist because Essien has darker skin than Reo-Coker (which he doesn't by the way).
